Diya Aur Baati Hum is an Indian soap opera series which airs on STAR Plus. The show premiered on 29 August 2011 and airs every Mon-Fri 9 pm. It is the No.1 serial of Star Plus and has been a TRP topper for the past 6 months.The show portrays the story of Sandhya and her aspirations to become an IPS officer. She dreams to break the boundaries of her confined existence of middle-class values, but strained situations lead her to get married to Sooraj, who is a self-made man and runs a small but famous sweet shop near his house. Soon she is a part of the family whom she does not even know. The story focuses on an unusual, priceless and unconditional love between an educated wife (Sandhya Sooraj Rathi) and an uneducated husband (Sooraj Rathi) and also on her struggles to fulfill her dreams and a journey where she finds help from her husband who can make it possible.
